No training wheels!

Sept. 5, 2009: This was one of our most memorable moments ever! Trey was a great teacher and before long Ava was riding by herself. We were so proud of her! We clapped and cheered so loud the neighbor across the street even stopped to watch and congratulate her! I remember with vivid detail riding my bike for the first time. I was in the front yard of our old house, and my Daddy was behind me, holding me up, or so I thought! I hope Ava always remembers this special day.

Happy Anniversary Maw and Paw!
August 30, 2009: We drove up to Mena Sun. morning to join Floyd and Coleen, Maw and Paw and Uncle Terry and Aunt Julia for a day celebrating Maw and Paw's 62nd anniversary. After church services, we went to Queen Wilhemena for lunch, and toured Coleen's new school room. Then we went back to Floyd and Coleen's for dessert and visiting.  Besides Maw and Paw's anniversary, the news of the day was how unseasonably cool it was for August. Seriously, when is the last time you've seen a picture of someone bundled up in a blanket outside. . . in August? Floyd and Coleen have a wonderful wrap-around porch and pretty yard, so we really enjoyed sitting outside and just talking. Then my parents "popped in" to say hi. Really! They were on their way to Colorado and came right through Mena. Not even out of Arkansas and already shivering, they were questioning if they packed warm enough clothes for the Rocky mountains! Then we went inside for a sweet gift exchange between Maw and Paw, still obviously smitten with each other after all these years. What a beautiful example they are to us all!
