Flying cookies and upside down turkeys

April 9, 10, 11, 2010:  My blog is really out of order. That's because time is flying by and I can't keep up with everything that is happening!  Fri. morn: We went to a playdate at Leanne's house. Then that evening to a cookout at deer camp. Time isn't the only thing flying. . .  I made a platter of cookies for our cook-out and left them on top of the car while I loaded the girls. And left them there while I drove to camp! First big curve, whooosh!! Off they went.  I don't know which was worse, seeing those big pretty cookies laying on the ground, now unedible, or seeing my fiesta-ware platter shattered in the road.  Got to camp and one of the guys said, "you just left the cookies? we'd have eaten them anyway!"
three out of five of us are happy to be at camp!!
Saturday, I took the girls to a friend's b-day party and then that afternoon Mica and Jamison came for a playdate.  Sunday, Coleen and Leah and the kids came over to play. Here are Trey, Ava and Gabby hitting the t-ball.
Monday, Trey took off to turkey hunt and Mom and Riley came over. Mom offered to keep the girls so I could go to Karrie's for Rubies. Here are some pics while Riley was here:

Here's Trey with his turkey!! Congratulations Trey.
Question: Why is there a turkey hanging upside down in my front yard? Answer: hunters use the length of a turkey's spurs (the little points above a male turkey's feet used for fighting) to judge how "mature" a gobbler is just like a deer's antlers.  If a turkey is a "treehanger," like this one Trey killed, it is a really good one!!

  1. The correct terminology in turkey hunting circles is "Limb Hanger"!!!
