Feb. 3, 2011: Isabel turned 3 on Dec. 4, 2010. We survived her "terrible two's" and are delighted by her more cheerful and agreeable personality that is emerging! : ) She speaks with the cutest little accent. She likes playing games, especially puzzles and matching games. Her favorite food is "pup-cakes." She enjoys feeding cows, fishing and "hunting" with Trey. Not sure how much hunting gets done, more like "scaring wildlife away," but Trey lets her think they're hunting!! She is a BIG helper, give her a "job" and she is on a mission! Her favorite is setting the table. Just wish that enthusiasm for chores could last! And she ought to help out because she is a MESS!!! The last time she got into makeup, I thought, "she's done this so many times, she's actually getting pretty good at it!"
January 2010 Not bad for a 3 yr old!
March 2009
She loves cuddling, hugging and snuggling. Unlike her more independent sisters, she usually resists bedtime and naptime unless we've gone through ALL the steps... reading, singing, rocking, all the baby dolls are tucked in just right, etc. If sent to bed alone, she'll fight it, but if we snuggle up, then she'll put my hand on her face and fall fast asleep! With the exception of pulling Sophia's hair and sitting on her when she thinks I'm not looking, Isabel is extremely good natured and affectionate. I clearly remember pestering my sisters, so I ought to know that a little sibling rivalry comes with the territory. And since my sisters and I are now very close and can laugh about those days... I know it's just part of sisterhood! (Val, you can laugh about it now. . .right??) ; ) Isabel can...
- count to 23 (this number changes but today it's 23)
- spell her name, and write ISA ...she's still working on BEL!!
- draw a circle with a cross in it (a window)
- draw a stick person
- ride a tricycle and scooter (she learned that last summer)
- recite Psalm 100
- this morning she gathered some things in a gift bag for Aunt Julia then said, "now I need some tennis shoe paper!!"
- on New Year's and other special occasions sometimes we get out the pretty glasses and sparkling grape juice and have a family toast. The girls LOVE this little ritual!! Recently, when Isabel was spending the night with her Grandparents, Mom called me and said, "I don't know what Isabel is saying, something about she wants to "drink her toast!!!" Mom was trying to figure it out, and had even tried to cut a piece of toast into little pieces and put them in Isabel's drink...LOL!!! Mom was totally baffled and Isabel was not happy about being so misunderstood!!!
- She loves to sing but often gets the words a little mixed up. She sings, "Oh my darling ... Nothing but the blood of Jesus, Oh my darling ...Nothing but the blood of Jesus."
Aunt Lauren once said "Isabel has eyes like rainbows." I love that! It's very true. She is a JOY!! Sometimes, Trey and I can't wait for her to go to bed... then we sit up and talk about how cute she is!! We love you Isabel!!

Can't wait to see what's in my bag!
ReplyDeleteShe is a delight! I miss her cheerful attitude in class. She's so cute that I'm sure it's hard to keep a straight face on the rare occasions that she needs a little redirecting. Those eyes are truly spectacular, they say gotta love me :)
ReplyDeleteAnother cute little memento about Isabel is that when we went four wheeler riding in the train barrels with Granddaddy, instead of screaming cheering about going over the cattle guards, Isabel would squeak with excitement! It sounded like a mixture of a puppy yelp and a chew toy squeak!
