Ava, Isabel and I arrived at Barton Sun. afternoon. Trey was the speaker that night and he delivered a great sermon on "hearing." Maw and Paw, Floyd and Coleen and Mom and Daddy also came to hear Trey. I had planned on keeping Isabel at camp all week but she was so clingy and cranky, so when Mom offered to take her home that night I let her go! Thanks Mom!
Skit night, Wed.

Wed. afternoon Coleen came to camp to pick up Isabel for the second part of the week.. Trey came to visit us, I couldn't make it all week without seeing him! Uncle Terry and Aunt Julia also came, and Aunt Carol, too. After Wed. night services, the kids performed their skits. Our cabin acted out the story of Paul and Silas in Prison in Acts. To have only practiced an hour, I thought they did great!! Leah also came with her kids to stay a couple days with us. Having them at camp made the week even more fun!

I really enjoyed my week at camp. It was especially great to be with my friends. Although we all live in the same town and see each other at worship services, it's hard to find much time to just sit and visit. The counselors spent several late nights sitting in a circle talking past midnight and, though we paid for it later, it was worth giving up sleep!! And it was so good to be with Sarah. Since she's gone off to college, I just don't see her enough, but we enjoyed catching up at camp. I was very proud of Ava, she made it all week just like the big girls! She wanted to do everything they did. She only got in trouble a few times, mostly for arguing because she wanted to keep up with the older campers, and once because a camper was picking on her and Ava decided to "spank" her with a stick! The older girl came and tattled on Ava but when I got to the bottom of the story, it was clear Ava was just defending herself against a bully and I was pretty proud of her! Other than that, the big girls seemed to adore Ava and let her be one of them. Once I saw Ava walking across the lawn arm in arm with two older girls, and she looked so grown up! She's been talking about camp ever since we left, and I know we made some great memories.

WELCOME HOME VALERIE!!!!
Valerie had just moved back from DC and was a counselor 2nd week. She moved in Cabin 4 after we left and continued the luau theme. So we went back to Barton Wed. night to visit. It was GREAT seeing her and especially knowing she's home for good! Trey's cousin Dillon was a camper this week so we got to see him also. After Wed. night services and supper, the campers sang some songs they had been learning. It was wonderful! I think my favorite part of camp is the singing, and it was very moving to be out in the woods, surrounded by nature and hearing these kids worshipping God with such beautiful singing.
