Clark Family 4th of July Celebration

This year the Clark's 4th celebration was at the Cabin. THANK YOU Floyd and Coleen for organizing this fun and memorable night!

It's your typical 4th of July family cookout: fireworks, horseshoes . . .armadillo catching?

Yes, this is my husband proudly catching a live armadillo. It's one of his many talents! The adults were repulsed, but the kids were fascinated and even followed him off for the poor thing's beheading. If anyone had a more unusual activity at their 4th celebration I'd love to hear about it!

I love this picture of Ava! A lot more smoke than sparkle!!

Picture of the kids with glowsticks using the camera flash. . .

And without the flash. . . neat!!
The kids also had a "glowstick parade," they lined up and marched around the yard. Imagine looking out into the dark and seeing nothing but waving glowsticks, so cute!

We had a fabulous fireworks show and for the finale, karaoke!! Thanks to Matt and Leah for sharing their karaoke machine with us.

First, Uncle Johnny sang the "Star Spangled Banner" as the fireworks show came to an end. Then everyone took turns picking songs. This went on for hours- so much fun!! Floyd and Coleen stole the show with Kenny and Dolly's "Islands in the Stream." Lauren chose a rap song that she once heard Brett (he's 7) sing, so she started it and thought Brett would join in but instead he just stared at her like, "you're crazy, I don't even know this song!" Now there were some excellent singers up there and well, to be honest, I'm just not one of them, but even I couldn't resist joining Trey for one of my favorite songs by Jewel and Merle Haggard: "That's the Way Love Goes." We stayed up well past midnight and nobody was ready for it to end. Except for those who wanted to go to bed but couldn't with the concert on their front porch!
And the children were beyond exhausted and all sitting on the swing, (they even appear to be bored!) Do they think they are the only ones who are allowed to have fun? I think it was the first time the kids were acting more grown-up than the grown-ups! Here's my favorite performance:
Video of Trey and his Daddy performing "Elvira." I love this!!
There was also a BIG announcement that night. Trey gave everyone this riddle to figure out: "Good things come in groups of threes." As the night went on, he would go up to the microphone and repeat the riddle, asking if anyone had an answer. Lauren figured it out and started arranging all the groups of 3 siblings on the "stage." (Carol Ann, Floyd, Phyllis)(Leah, Lauren, Trey) (Brett, Zoe, Gabby) (Braden, Austin, Annabelle). . . where is this headed everyone wondered?? Then . . . Ava, Isabel and . . . I jumped up and stood with them, and those that were still baffled suddenly realized that I'm pregnant!! Earlier, I had told Trey to figure out a way to tell everyone and as always, he made it a lot of fun. The next day he kept it going by calling up my mom and sisters and letting them guess the riddle.
So, here's my official blog announcement, We're expecting baby#3, in January 0f 2010!!
