Evolution of the Sled

Feb. 11, 2011: The first fresh blanket of snow was on the ground; such a rare occurance in South Arkansas. Fun- loving family that we are, we were quick to bundle up and head out... except ... we were missing one important tool: a sled. We were just plain unprepared for this "event." We considered our options: an old car hood, a plastic tub, a plastic swimming pool.... the conversation went something like "hey, when I was a kid, daddy pulled us on a piece of tin!! We have any tin?"
Here's what the neighbors were using. Perfect for tiny sledders

For bigger ones, not so much!!

Works pretty good!!!

Picking up speed!

Technically not a "sled"

The Semple's were the first to "motorize" the sledding experience for us behind their lawnmower, and added another bonus feature ... PADDING!!!

2nd Snow: this was fast and exciting!! (but some ended up with sore tailbones!)

3rd Snow: Discovered the Bowman's had the secret: lots of horsepower + lots of padding =

"WOOOO - HOOOO!!!"

Thanks to ALL our family and friends who helped us make great memories in the snow. Hope to see you all next winter!! Well, maybe not you little aluminum sled...
